Construction Update: The Walls Are Going Up

Published August 18, 2026  ·  Bailey’s Sports, Bend, OR  ·  Facility News

Every time we drive out to 63330 N Highway 97, the building looks a little more like the place we have been picturing for years. The latest milestone is a big one: the exterior wall panels are almost finished. What was an open steel frame a few weeks ago now reads as a real building, with real walls, standing on Bend’s north end.

Once the panels are buttoned up, the building is closed in. That is the moment a construction project turns a corner, because crews can keep moving through the winter weather and shift focus to everything on the inside: mechanical, electrical, flooring, and the equipment install that turns a shell into a gym.

Where the Build Stands Today

Phase 1 is the 45,706 sq. ft. multi-sport building, and it is the piece that opens this winter. Here is the short version of where things sit right now.

  • Steel structure: complete. The frame and roof are up, which is what let the wall work begin.
  • Exterior wall panels: nearly finished. Once these wrap, the building is fully enclosed.
  • Interior systems: next up. Mechanical, electrical, and plumbing rough-in move fast once the building is closed in.
  • Floors, pits, and equipment: the final stretch, and the part our coaches are counting down to.

We are bringing every piece of equipment from our current gyms with us, and adding a lot of brand-new equipment on top of it. More space, more stations, shorter lines, and room for programs that simply do not fit in our buildings today.

What Is Moving Into the New Building

The whole point of the extra square footage is programming. Here is what will be running inside those walls when the doors open, and how you can get your athlete started right now at our current locations.

Volleyball
3 Full-Size Courts

The single biggest addition. The new building includes three full-size volleyball courts for youth and adult play across Central Oregon, something Bend has needed for a long time. Leagues, camps, clinics, open gym, and tournament play all become possible once the courts are in.

Recreational Gymnastics
Ages 5¾+

Our six-level recreational program moves into a main gym with more floor space, more equipment, and more class times. Every gymnast still progresses at her own pace as coaches recommend advancement, just with a lot more room to do it in.

Tots Gymnastics
Ages 2 to 5

The Jungle Gym is coming with us, and it is getting an upgrade. Age-based classes built around developmental milestones give our youngest athletes a dedicated space of their own, away from the big-gym traffic, so wobbles and giggles get the room they deserve.

Cheer & Tumbling
Ages 5+

Cheer gets a proper home with full-size spring floor space, dedicated tumbling strips, and room to train stunts, pyramids, and full routines. That covers both paths: Recreational Cheer for athletes building skills and confidence on a supportive squad, and Impulse Elite All Star Cheer for competitors ready to take it further. Our Tumbling classes, from first forward rolls to connected twisting passes, run right alongside them.

Ninja
Ages 4 to 12

Climb, swing, jump, and conquer the cage. Ninja moves into the new facility with more space for warmups, air awareness, trampoline work, and obstacle circuits. Down the road, Phase 2 adds a dedicated ninja training area and foam pits in the action sports building next door.

What This Means for Your Family

Nothing changes for you right now. Classes and programs continue as normal at Central Oregon Gymnastics Academy and Bailey’s Sports: Tumbling & Cheer. When Phase 1 opens this winter, your programs move into a bigger space with new equipment and the same coaches your athlete already knows.

Enrolled families will get every transition detail, including dates, schedules, and what to expect, well before the move happens.

The Best Time to Start Is Now

Space in the new building is going to fill up fast, and current families move over first. If your athlete has been on the fence about gymnastics, cheer, tumbling, or ninja, starting today means walking into the new facility already knowing the coaches, the routine, and the teammates.

We will keep posting build progress, sneak peeks, and opening announcements all the way to opening day. Follow along on Instagram @baileys.sports and Facebook, where the news drops first.
